5 korta frågor (och långa svar)

Vad är det du gillar med agility? I love the fact that my teammate is a dog. This is what makes this sport so special. I love dogs. I like to connect, run and achieve things with them. I like to find solutions to things that don’t work, find what works best for each one of them and most importantly, I love building strong relationships because I think this is what brings magic to each run. I love this feeling when I run with my dogs, I love the process, I love every clean run that boosts our confidence, every mistake that makes us better. I love agility, because I do it with them.

Vad gör dig extra glad när du dömer? Happy people that are nice to their dogs despite the result.

Vilket är ditt favorithinder och varför?
I think the seasaw despite the fact that it can be a nightmare to judge it. But I enjoy very much training it and trying to find the method that works a best for each dog. It’s a very complicated obstacle for handlers, because it’s so hard to have a correct seesaw but release perfectly on time so you don’t waste precious seconds, for judges to judge it and for dogs, as we ask them to run as fast as they can at the edge of something that is falling to the ground. I find it very fascinating, as well as the dogwalk, but I think the seasaw is by far safer.

The fact that everything happens so fast in a course that a misstep or a tiny pause of the brain can mess up a perfect run. Been there, done that – several times.

Ditt bästa tips till tävlande? Enjoy the courses and be nice to your dogs. Dogs don’t know about any goals, any trophies, any wins. They are not even born to do agility. They do it simply because we ask them and they are the ones doing the hardest job, not us. Yes, handling a dog is very challenging, but they have to run as well, waiting from us to say and show everything on time, jump, climb on that A-frame, run as fast as they can on the dogwalk and hitting that tiny contact, go into dark tunnels… They really do amazing things and for all these reasons they deserve our respect and our support, even when things don’t go as we’d want them to go.

I’m looking forward to seeing you all in Sweden!

Some courses take a lot of thought and time to design. And when the course is finally built for real, it is really fulfilling to see the lines work and the teams solve the situations and challenges I created in different ways. Everyone knows what works best for them and their dogs, and seeing the variation keeps seeing and running agility exciting!

Positive behaviour, always. I love it when people enter and leave the course with a smile, whatever happens. At the end of the day life is more than agility and dogs are more than our teammates. I will always be happier when someone leaves the course with an elimination but is super happy with what they accomplished with their dog and rewarding them extensively, than someone who gets a clean run but is grumpy about their “bad time”.

Vilket är ditt favorithinder och varför?
Maybe a boring answer, but the jump! The jump is the most versatile and most used obstacle in agility! It has many different approaches depending on how they are set and allows for creating many interesting situations. People sometimes underestimate that jumps also require solid basics.

Getting clean runs 😂. Besides that, continuing to keep inspiration and designing interesting courses that are different than yesterday’s courses.

Relax! And don’t forget to enjoy the time you get to spend with your dog!
